RE: Bridgeport Ca, to Santa Cruz Ca.

JT this young man I know that is also a ham tells me to take 108 he did with a 53 ft. trailer --- A 53' trailer? This ham operator fellow has apparently had his head a little too close to the radio waves for some time. He's talking about doing it with a Semi-Tractor trailer rig. If you believe that we have about 3500 acres of swamp land for sale in Florida I will sell to you cheap;)

RE: Bridgeport Ca, to Santa Cruz Ca.

Thank you for the info. Would you believe I was talking to a fellow Ham, and asked him what he thought of 108, from looking at google map, they said go to 108, looked too windy for me. I made that mistake once going from I-15 to Big Bear via ca-138 not. Any way to make a long story short this young man I know that is also a ham tells me to take 108 he did with a 53 ft. trailer. I don't think so. Any way thanks for the info. I really didn't want to go thru Yosemite but it is more direct. Thanks W6pea

RE: CPAP and dry camping

I use a Respironics M-Series Bipap Auto. I can run it off of my house battery's. before I added 4 more battery's I could run my Bipap machine for three days before I needed to turn the generator on to charge the battery's. It will run off of 12v.

Bridgeport Ca, to Santa Cruz Ca.

I want to go from Bridgeport, Ca. to Davenport, Ca. The shortest route possible. Has anyone driven Ca-108, to Ca-120? How bad is the road. Or would it be better to go uo Ca-89 to US 50 out of So Lake Tahoe ? Thanks in advance.

RE: Have ? about dry camping 7 days in a class C

You should have more than enough power from your battery's if you are conservative. I have added 4 battery's to the coach battery's. Before we added the battery's we were able to use our house battery's for three or four days, (I use a Bipap machine) before we needed to charge the house battery's. If you cook with your microwave while running your generator will help to bring the battery's up to charge. Remeber to check the water in the battery's every week or so. Also you can charge your battery's quicker by starting the RV the alternator will charge the battery's in less time than the generator will. My wife and I use the stored water for toilet and washing dishes. We use bottled water for drinking and coffee.

RE: Dealing with blood sugar drops.

I always carry a tube of cake icing in my purse. When all else fails you can slip your finger into the side of a person's mouth and position the nozzle of the tube between the back teeth and squeeze the icing out. Message their throat so that they swallow. I haven't as yet had to do this with Pat but I have it if we or someone one else needs it. Evelyn, w6ome

RE: LP Alarm going off??

Make sure there is nothing in front of the LP monitor. I leaned a small folded table against the counter in front of ours last year and at midnight the alarm went off lifting us off the beds in fright. We looked all over the inside and opened the door and aired out the place. We went back to bed...about 10 minutes later the same thing happened, we were really worried. We started to look for the alarm monitor and that is when I noticed the table leaning against the sink counter. Our monitor was under the cupboard under the sink. I moved the table and no more alarm sounds. I never put anything anywhere near that thing again....can't take a chance on that happening too many times as I don't think our hearts could take the levitation abuse. Evelyn, w6ome

Why did we NOT get a letter of recall From Fleetwood?

Fleetwood is recalling 135 MY 2004-2006 Jamboree GT and Tioga SL 29S model motor homes. The black iron propane plumbing, located under the motor home, may come into contact with chassis components and, under certain conditions, become pinched or crushed. This could lead to a propane gas leak and the potential for an explosion and/or fire. Dealers will inspect and relocate the black iron propane pipe with a kit that provides the components to move the line to the side of the chassis frame rail. The recall is expected to begin on or about June 20, 2008. Owners may contact Fleetwood at 1-800-509-3418. 08V-232I found this here Now my question is why didn't we get a recall notice from Fleetwood. To date we have still not gotten a recall notice. While on a trip last year we had to pay to get a problem like this repaired. Thanks to a fellow RVer that smelled the leak.(we thought it was a sewer leak from the coach next to us) If it wasn't for the Good Sam CSP policy we purchased it would have cost us a lot of money. To top it off the RV repair technician said that it was a manufacturers problem. When they put the propaine line in it got bent and pinched. Go figure.

RE: Good Sam's Emergency Road Service -- Non-service

I would say use this As I have said before US Rider will tow anything a bit pricey but when they will tow and any vehicle also if you have a trailer in tow they will tow it also. they run circles around GS, CW ers, they will even tow a truck and a horse trailer.:E Unless I am reading this wrong, this covers people pulling horse trailers. That wouldn't apply to me. Scottiemom US Rider will tow you your car, or RV,and any thing you are riding in any vehicle you operating, any trailer, be it a Horse trailer, cargo trailer, toy hauler, boat trailer, atv trailer etc. etc. When you call they will ask you if you have an equine emergency and or if you have horses or live stock with you and do you need to have them taken to a vet or have a vet sent out to your location. I feel that for $175.00 a year it's good insurance. look here at the AERC website and search for usrider. They might be for the Equine Community, but they will give good service. I have never had a problem with them. I have used them several times for my old rv and once for my new one. several times for my truck, and my wifes van. I hope this clears it up for you.

RE: solar panel

What kind of money are we talking about for enough panels to keep 4 batteries charged? Will we be able to run our Air Conditioner with 4 batteries and solar panels? We don't want a generator. But don't know the cost. Thanks. No you will not, you will need an inverter also, at least a 3000w inverter. And a few more battery's and a lot of panels to keep the battery's charged. Hope you have deep pockets Putting 2 100w panels and a charge controller is a little more than 1600 bucks and that does not include battery's

RE: On the Road with horses

I have a business making things for people that ride horses so I hear a lot about accidents involving truck and horse trailers.. We found out about USRIDER.ORG. They are a wonderful towing service for Equestrians. They make arrangements for trailering and towing people that have horses in an emergency. We don't have horses (yes they do take anyone's money...grin) but have used them many times with just great results. We have had this insurance for many years and haven't heard any negetive comments about them at all. I always urge people that have horses to look into this service. Evelyn

Cuisinart pan up date

Several months ago I asked if anyone had had any trouble with their cookware; the kind that has the removable handles. I ended up sending my pan back to the company. They were very nice about it and even sent a UPS call tag for it.I got a replacement pan today. I was told that they didn't replace it because it burned everything I cooked in it but because it had a dent in it.....NOT.....! I was especially careful to pack it so that it didn't move. Now I have another problem....I sent the handle with the original pan and there is no handle in the box with the pan that I got today.....sigh. I do have another handle as there were 2 in the set but that is not the point as far as I am concerned so it is back to the phones tomorrow..... I guess we will just have to get used to a little more charcoal in our daily rations....grin Evelyn

RE: Simple, Inexpensive Radio for West Boondocking

I would say go to WalMart and get an in dash radio with a cd player. Am/FM for less than 200 bucks. Or go to a stereo shop like circut city and get one and have them install it.
